This will make jam and jelly the same way you would make them otherwise. If you have a recipe that allows for frozen fruit, then you can make it here. This Jam and Jelly maker would handle the frozen fruit the same way it will handle fresh as long as the frozen has been thoroughly thawed - and possibly drained. Please make sure to follow all the instructions for using frozen fruit. Here is the link to the recipe book that comes with the unit so you can look through it in advance!

No, this Jam and jelly Maker does not do the water bath canning. It is strictly for making the jam. After you have finished making the jam, the recipes go on to instruct you in the preserving part of the process.

The unit is only BPA free.

If you go to Ball's website: http://www.freshpreserving.com/prod...
you can click on the recipe tab to see any alternatives to sugar they may suggest for jam and jelly making. It is really important to follow their instructions on how to substitute etc. I checked and didn't see anything for splenda-but they do have low/no sugar recipes.

The Fresh Preserving website has a lot more recipes and they include low sugar recipes. Here is the link to that page: http://www.freshpreserving.com/reci...

Also, on the boxes of low/no sugar pectin are their recipes for doing your jams and jellies that way. You can take those recipes and do them right in the Jam and Jelly maker just fine.
